Derek Lopez, Ph.D. has served the community of Pueblo as an educator and administrator for over 20 years. Dr. Lopez is currently the Director of Hispanic Serving Institution Initiatives at Colorado State University Pueblo and is the Project Director for four Title V Grants. He has authored, secured, and/or implemented over $20 million dollars of grant-funded programs and has published in related peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Lopez has worked across the P-20 education spectrum, including as an early childhood educator and K-8 administrator. He earned his Ph.D. from the Stanford University School of Education (SUSE) with a focus on Child and Adolescent Development. Dr. Lopez teaches in the Center for Honors and Leadership at CSU Pueblo and also serves on the Alliance of Hispanic Serving Institution Educators (AHSIE) National Council among other boards. Dr. Lopez is honored to serve as the Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Pueblo Hispanic Education Foundation.
