Scholar Development Coordinator

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Scholar Development Coordinator plays a central role in implementing the PHEF Scholar Development Program ensuring scholarships and holistic support services that reduce student loan debt and increase postsecondary completion. This position oversees outreach, recruitment, enrollment support, scholar success programming, scholarship assistance, and workforce transition services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Outreach & Recruitment

  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage prospective scholars through high schools, community organizations, and workforce centers.

  • Lead informational sessions for high school seniors to explain program expectations and the pre‑application process.

  • Coordinate FAFSA/CASFA and college application support sessions during key application periods.

  • Build strong recruitment pipelines through collaborative partnerships.

2. Enrollment Support

  • Plan and facilitate a comprehensive orientation, including program expectations, college readiness, and resource navigation.

  • Create institution‑based sub‑cohorts to foster community and peer support.

  • Manage communication channels such as Microsoft Teams groups for ongoing engagement.

3. Scholar Success & Retention

  • Design and deliver monthly workshops addressing academic, social, and personal development needs.

  • Organize social events to build community and support scholar well‑being.

  • Conduct mid‑term and end‑of‑year check‑ins, including transcript collection and academic progress monitoring.

  • Maintain accurate records of scholar engagement, progress, and support needs.

4. Scholarship & Financial Aid Support

  • Provide FAFSA/CASFA assistance through group sessions and one‑on‑one appointments.

  • Coordinate annual financial literacy workshops.

  • Support scholars in identifying and applying for additional institutional and external scholarships.

  • Track scholarship disbursements and ensure compliance

5. Completion & Workforce Transition

  • Deliver career readiness programming, including resume workshops, LinkedIn profile development, and job search support.

  • Assist scholars in identifying internship opportunities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree or higher from an accredited institution (bachelor’s degree preferred)

  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent software

  • Ability to analyze information, solve problems, and make sound decisions

  • Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and strong work ethic

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, clients, and stakeholder

SALARY & BENEFITS STRUCTURE (30‑Hour/Week Position)

Compensation

  • Part‑time, 30 hours per week.  Specific daily hours may be set by the supervisor or based on organizational needs

  • Annual Salary Range of $30,000 – $35,000, depending on experience and qualifications

  • Pay Schedule: Monthly

Work Location:

  • Hybrid schedule combining in‑office hours and remote work, as determined by the supervisor and organizational policy

Paid Holidays

  • The position includes all federally recognized holidays which are fully observed by the organization. 

Sick Leave

  • Accrual rate follows the organization’s standard policy or applicable state/local requirements 

  • Sick leave may be used for personal illness, medical appointments, or approved family‑related needs

Colorado At‑Will Employment Disclosure

Physical Requirements

This position is generally sedentary and performed in an office or remote work environment. The employee must be able to remain seated for extended periods while working at a computer or performing administrative tasks. Occasional physical exertion may be required, including lifting or carrying items up to 20 pounds.

Background Check Disclosure

Unauthorized disclosure or misuse of confidential information may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment, and may carry additional legal consequences.

The obligation to protect confidential information continues even after employment with the Organization ends.
